SOLD…..A well decorated Victorian miser's purse. 19thcA long netted miser's purse in red and fawn with plentiful steel beading. It is in excellent condition with no damage or rust. 40 cm long 15. 5 inches Stock no. KJ21

The steel end is a typical spade shape

A silver bodkin case

There are no marks on the silver

A small cardboard box which would have contained a needle packet

There is also a silver double ended spoon

The back cover is plain black silk but with a slight pattern in the weave

Size 14 - Finger aperture 14mm  ( with English thimbles the larger the number the smaller the size

A glove darner with one end for mending the fingers and the other slightly fatter for the thumb

In excellent condition- no damage and with the original varnished finish

It is one of a group of novelty needle packet boxes produced by William Avery of Redditch in the 19th century

A wooden thread barrel from an early Georgian workbox in the style known as Painted Tunbridge Ware which predates the better known inlaid work of Victorian times

In very good condition retaining most of the original gilding to the pressed brass
