Paul Désiré Trouillebert, Landscape Study With Birch TreesThis brisk landscape sketch by French artist, Paul Dsir Trouillebert (1829 1900) depicts two birch trees before a farmhouse and distant woodland. Its a study directly from nature by one of the foremost plein air painters of his generation. Trouillebert was a Barbizon School painter and created many of his works in the forest of Fontainebleau near the village of Barbizon. Along with his peers, he was one of the first to truly embrace painting outdoors.
