Carlo Hornung-Jensen, Coastal View With Turbulent Sea & SailboatThis early 20th century oil painting by Danish artist Carl Hornung Jensen (1882 1960) depicts a coastal view towards a sailboat atop turbulent waves. Flashes of bright light between dense clouds echo the highlights on a tumbling sea. Hornung Jensen painted this during the early part of his career an excited artist exploring the fishing villages of the Danish islands. His style is usually a little finer than this brisk study as he was painting outdoors

the portrait had accumulated so much dirt that it appeared to be blank and simply primed with dark paint

the details of this painting have become harder to decipher but it remains a charming decorative piece
