1939 Finnish Pavilion World's Fair Chair by Aino and Alvar Aalto for Wilhelm SchaumanThis is a very special chair. In 1939, Alvar Aalto was commissioned to create the Finnish pavilion for the World's Fair in New York. This chair was presented as part of his vision. The chair was produced by O. Y Wilhelm Schauman A. B Jyvskyl of Finland and was used in the restaurant. It is documented in the Aalto Design Collection book as well. The chair is constructed of both birch plywood and hand finished solid birch. It features a two tone

which is aligned appropriately with the production date of circa 1950

Listed for sale is a set of six circa mid 1940s dining chairs designed by Jen Risom and produced by Knoll Associates

this was used as Richard Schultz and his family's coffee table in their home

The armrests are covered in thick black leather

The lounge chairs came from a corporate executive suite in Manhattan and seem to have been very lightly used

this sofa is in good to very good vintage condition with some age and wear apparent

we have been able to find approximately four other cabinets

The chair measures 34 inches deep

The thick glass top shows some wear from use

and early X base

The table is constructed from chromed aluminum with a slate top

This example is in excellent condition with some light wear from use to the fabric and only minimal wear and use to the frame
