Pryn was a master at capturing how light fell upon thick snow-covered paths and this is a great example of his work

such as Meindert Hobbema (1638-1709)

It’s a charming little painting and you can almost hear the chickens as they scuttle around pecking the earth

We particularly love the nonchalant posture of the female as she leans in a doorway

The frame is at least 200 years old and there are various old wormholes

following an examination under UV
